Lash Extensions vs. Lash Lifting

For those of you who offer both services at your salon, I am sure you have been asked “What’s the difference?” or maybe you’re in limbo if you want to offer one service over the other, or both services. Well, fortunately for you and your clients both services are absolutely stunning. We will discuss in this article what each procedure is, how they differ from one another, and when you would use one in place of the other. Afterall, who doesn’t want perfect, long, curly, luscious lashes every single day without putting in any effort? It sounds like the thing dreams are made of right? Well luckily for us, this dream is a reality.

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Well, eyelash extensions have been around for quite some time and have been gaining popularity by the day. Celebrities, models, actresses, Kim Kardashian, you name it, they all, well maybe 99.9% of them, are currently using extensions or have had them in the past. With extensions, a trained therapist will be applying false lashes, usually made out of a synthetic material to mimic a real lash. Take note that I said “trained therapist”, please whatever you do, don’t try to apply lash extensions on yourself. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. So yes, lash extensions are applied and are adhered to each lash using a semi permanent adhesive. The longevity of the lash extensions differ from person to person, but generally they last a couple months with the client having to return for what is called a “refill” every 2-3 weeks. A refill is just filling in where those few lash extensions have fallen off due to the shedding of the natural eyelashes.

Lash extensions have a wide variety of different lengths, thicknesses, curls, colors, that you can choose from to give you any look you want. You can have a classic lash look, volume, mega volume, or a colorful dramatic look. Whichever look you choose, be prepared to wake up every morning with lashes that look glamorous and ready to take on the world!

WHAT IS LASH LIFTING?

Lash lifting, lash lamination, whichever you prefer to call it, is a beauty trend that is taking off around the world. It all started out with the idea to perm the eyelashes years ago. After a few modifications and changes to make the process less harsh on the eyelashes, we have now what we refer to as lash lifting.

Lash lifts are an amazing service that are taking the industry by storm. But what exactly happens in the procedure? Using 2 or 3 different solutions/lotions, a trained therapist, again take note in “trained therapist”, will be permanently changing the structure and direction of the lashes for the rest of their growth cycle. By using a silicone shield, you are curling the lashes and lifting them up to give them the same look that you would get by using a eyelash curler, except it lasts on average 8-12 weeks!

With lash lifting, you aren’t necessarily adding any lashes to give them more volume, but instead you are curling/lifting them to make the eye open up a bit and show off that beautiful eye color you have been hiding for so long. It’s a great natural enhancement to the eyelashes, and also a perfect alternative for those who have maybe had a reaction to lash extensions.

WHO SHOULD GET LASH EXTENSIONS?

In our opinion, everyone. But for those of you who maybe have shorter lashes, or not that many lashes, lash extensions is the solution. It will make your eyes come to life giving them a fuller, longer look to where everyone that looks at you, won’t be able to look away.

WHO SHOULD GET A LASH LIFT?

Again, in our opinion, everyone! But, for those who have straight lashes that maybe grow down a lash lift is the perfect treatment to lift them up out of the eyes, and show the world what your eyes have to offer! An amazing treatment that is for those who maybe do not want to add extensions to their lashes.

Lash extensions and lash lifts are simple, beautiful treatments to add some glamour to your eyes. When people first lay their eyes on you, yes they are looking at a gorgeous face, but also they will most likely first look at your eyes. So why not spice things up a bit by adding some extensions? Or maybe get a lash lift so they notice the deep beauty in your eyes? Whichever treatment you decide to go with, we know that you will LOVE the results.
